Matchbox was formed in 2006 by lead guitarist Ah Lok, rhythm guitarist Ah Bong and bassist Keath and joined by drummer Joey in 2009. The quartet is known for their fresh dose of acoustic music.
Since the band’s inception, they have performed in major shopping malls and various live shows and has won awards including First Runner-up in Metro Radio’s Metro Power Band Competition 2010, winner of Commercial Radio’s Simple Life Band Competition, representing Hong Kong to perform at Taiwan’s Simple Life Festival, Champion of Music Sound Base Competition organised by Tom Lee Music Store and Champion of San Miguel Beer Fest – Up & Rocking Sound 2012.
